'The photoworks of Marike Schuurman emerge as a kind of research of man-made spaces and landscapes. Schuurmans approach may be called documentary, with a preference for absurd phenomena of reality , whereby the final photos often detach from the documentary . Photography as creation through light; as a witness of transience of a short exposed reality, and as an extra eye on the world, one which reveals things that the ordinary eye does not, or can not perceive.'
